A tribute to UK legend Dame Barbara Windsor and her saucy topless and nude scenes that were a staple of pretty much everyone during the 60s and 70s thanks to the wildly popular Carry On comedy film series. Her iconic moment was in Carry On Camping, in which her bikini top flew off during an exercise class, and it was that scene that cemented her as the nation’s darling, affirming her cheeky, happy-go-lucky persona where in that age, the general public were much more likely to laugh at saucy humor than be offended by it.
Her fame as the glamour girl of the Carry On films spanned two decades, and those films would never get the go-ahead now – the screaming from the rooftops about ‘objectifying’ women would be deafening, now that there’s such a loud puritan and SJW brigade. Back in the latter half of the last century, both sexes took sauciness for what it was, and many a giggle was had by all. Oh for those days back!
Many an article will be written over the next few days about this British Treasure, and will do her far more justice than I in regards to her acting career, friendship with the royals (and the Krays no doubt, you can bet your last penny on THAT connection being brought up yet again), and her personal life. For now though, for everyone who loved the Ealing comedies, here’s a reminder of her topless and nude appearances – hopefully this will bring back some great memories.
RIP Dame Barbara 1937 – 2020
